Newington Arena Update
July 16, 2025

Jeff

If you want to share with your teams:

We understand the ice conditions at Newington Arena has not been great, especially later in the evening when it is extremely hot and humid out.  We have been working diligently with our refrigeration company to solve the issues that we have been having.

They have uncovered a few short term fixes and a few that will take a bit longer but we are moving in the right direction.

The air in our header pipes (the area at the top of the circles that takes the longest to freeze) started to be bled out this past week and will continue for the next week. This process is slow and takes time each day. You will start to see an improvement in that area of the ice.

Our third compressor motor is set to be installed next Wednesday, which should help with pulling down ice temps during very warm days.

One of our compressors was tuned up and is running at a much higher amperage and more effectively

Our dehumidification unit is at end of life and struggles to keep up with the high humidity and temperatures which is the primary reason for the top ice layer being so wet. This is a long term fix, we are hoping with less humidity this will be less of an issue.
